Postdoctoral Associate in Genomics/Molecular Biology

  Description of Position
Responsibilities will include interacting with graduate students and postdoctoral fellows to develop strategies, design and carry out experiments for genomic analysis (including DNA arrays, ChIP-on-chip, and proteome analysis) to elucidate cellular programs and phenotypes, and develop metabolic engineering strategies to develop new strains in prokaryotes and mostly in clostridia. It also involves assistance in preparation of research grants, and supervision of activities of currently funded grants.

This position is for up to three years. Salary will be commensurate with experience and publication record. Appointment decisions will be made in late August or early September, but the position will remain open until filled.

  Degree and Experience Requirements

  • Must have a Ph.D. degree in one of the following disciplines: Biochemical Engineering, Molecular Biology, Molecular Microbiology, Cell Biology, Genomics, Bioengineering or equivalent practical experience.
  • Strong molecular biology skills (DNA, RNA and protein level analysis), and desire to acquire and develop genomic tools (incl. use of bioinformatic tools) is a must.
  • US citizens or residents interested in academic careers and/or desiring to apply for an individual NIH postdoctoral fellowship will be given special attention.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, ability to organize material for grant reports and new grant preparation, and ability to work with others are also a must. Desire and ability to mentor graduate students is desirable.
